From solar panel technology to net-metering, from site assessment to subsidy documentation – this course covers everything you need to start your career in the solar industry or become an independent entrepreneur.

Hands-on experience: Work on 1kW, 3kW, and 5kW grid-tied & off-grid solar systems. Learn to use solar simulation software, clamp meters, and solar panel testing equipment.

Course Syllabus (4 Months)
1: Solar Fundamentals & Safety
3 weeks
Solar radiation & PV effect, types of solar panels (mono/poly/bifacial), solar cell characteristics. Electrical safety for solar installation, PPE, fall protection, arc flash prevention. Site survey tools.
2: Solar PV System Components
4 weeks
In-depth study of solar inverters (string, micro, hybrid), charge controllers (PWM, MPPT), batteries (lead-acid, lithium-ion), junction boxes, ACDB/DCDB, earthing, lightning arrestors. Selection criteria and sizing.
3: System Design & Simulation
3 weeks
Load calculation, panel sizing, inverter sizing, cable sizing. Software tools: PVsyst basics, Helioscope. Shadow analysis, tilt angle optimization, string configuration. Hands-on design projects.
4: Installation & Commissioning
4 weeks
Rooftop mounting structures (RCC, metal sheet), module installation, DC/AC wiring, inverter installation, net-metering connection, system commissioning checklist. Live rooftop installation practice.
5: Maintenance & Troubleshooting
2 weeks
Performance monitoring, IV curve tracing, thermography, fault diagnosis (PID effect, hotspot, potential failure), cleaning & maintenance schedules. Inverter error code interpretation.
6: Policy, Subsidy & Entrepreneurship
2 weeks
MNRE guidelines, state subsidy portals, DISCOM empanelment process, net-metering application, solar finance & payback calculation. How to start a solar installation business. Capstone project.
